The challenges facing the couple are unrelenting: brutal attacks by rebels, new political allies with a clear preference in who is chosen as princess, and ever-tangled relationships with America’s fellow Selected girls. She and Maxon continue to butt heads even as the chemistry between them remains palpable. America is as willful and defiant as ever, making her both a target of King Clarkson’s wrath and the darling of the people of Illea. Lower caste and originally a long shot in the competition, America Singer returns as one of four Elite girls vying for Prince Maxon’s heart and the title of princess of Illea. MaFans of Cass’s Selection trilogy won’t be disappointed with this satisfying final installment. When a lot of obstacles come in Maxon's and America's way, I start to feel like they are star-crossed lovers, but the ending wasn't surprising at all. She has her own insecurities and she can't make decisions immediately, like a queen should, but that's okay, because no one is perfect. I really liked the way the author crafted the characters. In the book, America Singer is just an ordinary girl that suddenly meets the prince of her dreams and has to fight for him, against several other girls who are vying for Maxon's love. I finished this last week and felt like the previous two books were much better, but at least I liked the ending.
Cass deftly builds the chemistry between America and Maxon, while stoking the embers of America's first, forbidden love.Angelay - I have read the previous two books in the series before but have never gotten a chance to read the third. "A cross between The Hunger Games (minus the bloodsport) and The Bachelor (minus the bloodsport), this trilogy launch is a lot of fun. The fast-paced action will have readers gasping for the upcoming sequel." "Cass's immensely readable debut novel is a less drastic Hunger Games, with elaborate fashion and trappings. Fairy-tale lovers will lose themselves in America's alternate reality and wish that the next glamorous sequel were waiting for them." "An engrossing tale reminiscent of Shannon Hale's Princess Academy and Ally Condie's Matched. Romance, royalty, and revolution in a reality-show format serve Cass' boldly rendered heroine well in her quest for justice and love."
PRAISE FOR KIERA CASS: "A real page-turner. "A twist on Hans Christian Andersen's 'The Little Mermaid' that romance fans will enjoy." Agent: Elana Roth Parker, Red Tree Literary. Despite the storyâs weaknesses, Cass seeds it with enough intrigue to keep readers curious about how this hopeless love affair will play out. how do these girls have endless amounts of money to use in the human world? However, the sisterly bond between the sirens is touching, and Kahlen is sweet, if docile. The siren world is fascinating if somewhat underdevelopedâe.g. Kahlen and Akinli are playfully cute, but the chemistry is missing, and readers may question why Kahlen risks so much for a guy she barely knows. Since sirens canât age, speak, or marry, their romance seems doomed. Kahlen detests her macabre work but finds some contentment with her siren sisters, until she unexpectedly falls in love with a guileless human, Akinli. After a shipwreck kills Kahlenâs parents, she is rescued from drowning by the sentient Ocean herself, but must serve for 100 years as a siren, using her beauty and otherworldly voice to lure humans to horrible deaths at sea. It does not do well to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that.įebruFaithful fans of the Selection series can dive into this Little Mermaidâesque story, originally self-published in 2009, but revised for its rerelease. Bookworm111102 - a very good book! not a connection to the selection series, but is Kiera Cass' style of writing.
